How Can YOU Master the Short Game in Golf?
If you are like me, you LOVE golf and probably lose most of your strokes in the short game. We spend so much time whacking balls at the driving range, hitting tee-shots, long-irons, and wedges, and can easily neglect the part of our game that, by some estimates, accounts for over 65% of all shots.
The short game is the part of golf that takes place anytime you are inside the full-swing yardage of your most lofted club. I carry a 60 degree (lob), and hit this club approximately 80 yards. Inside this yardage is my “scoring zone” where all of the short shots come into play.
Most golf instructors will agree that this part of the game consists of pitching, chipping, putting, and greenside bunker play. There are also several specialized shots around the greens, like flop shots and putting from off the green, which need to be mastered to score well.
While there are many resources out there that show you how to hit specific types of short shots, there are very few places where the average amateur golfer gives feedback on what works and what doesn’t. The focus of this website is to find the keys to mastering all of the shots on and around the green.
I have scoured the Internet, instruction manuals, golf magazines, and other resources for the best tips, techniques, equipment, opinions, and advice for improving short shot skills. I am constantly trying each of these and will report back with my take and perspective on what it really takes to master the shots in the scoring zone.
