It took Camilo Villegas just three short weeks to capture his first two wins on the PGA Tour. After winning the BMW Championship three weeks earlier, Camilo beat out Sergio Garcia to capture the Tour Championship in a playoff.
Camilo had a stellar final round that saw him make 8 birdies, including 6 birdies in the final 11 holes. As in his previous win, Camilo’s putting provided one of the biggest keys to success. On the challenging 233 yard par-3 closing hole, made two excellent lag puts from just over 45 feet to secure pivotal pars. The first ensured his spot in the playoff, and the second gave him the win on the first playoff hole over Sergio.
With the win, Camilo took home over $1.2 million and received a $3 million bonus for finishing runner-up to Vijay Singh in the FedEx Cup final standings. Congratulations Camilo!
